All the engraving services listed I do in person myself in my own workshop with an I T M 3 Gravograph engraving machine.

I am not a hand engraver and as such am unable to do extremely intricate designs.

However I am able to follow line engravings such as the image in the oval drawing listed , which I did recently for a client from his supplied drawing.

The engraving machine follows the line (lines) fairly precisely but produces in some instances a double line rather than a deep engraved single line, where like the image examples the lines are close together.( first two pictures )

For a single line image, your drawing must have single thin drawn lines to follow.

For this reason I have included an example where I have re- engraved by hand through the center of the twin lines producing something close to a traditional hand engraving.( last Picture )

£30.00 is for the basic diamond drag machine engraving, if the design requires re-engraving by hand there may be an additional charge , I will inform you of this before proceeding.

This I am happy to do on sterling silver rings, in order to provide a service, though I am unable to do so on 9ct or 18ct gold, as I find it too dificult. and to be fair having gone to the expense of paying for gold, it deserves to be engraved to a higher standard.

This is a reasonable substitute for hand engraving, at a sensible price, and I do this purely to provide a service, if I engrave a ring and decide it is not good enough I will refund the payment and ask whether you want your order sent out plain instead or re-funded in full and the order canceled.

Please bare in mind your drawing will be more difficult to centralise, than when I use templates, also highly polished surfaces, cause optical illusions. This is therefore not as accurate or precise as when done by hand, as a hand engraver first draws the image on the ring, and can erase and re-draw till correct.

There is no true substitute for hand engraving, a totally unique skill limited to a comparatively small number of jewellers, mainly specialising in engraving rather than like myself manufacturing.
